Club History
The Progressive Women's Club was founded in 1933 by a small group of Waynesville area women whose primary focus was saving the public library which they deemed essential to the community. Knowing it was struggling to stay open due to the great depression, PWC members went to work raising funds and rallying local support.

Knowing it was struggling to stay open due to the great depression, PWC members went to work raising funds and rallying local support.
Regardless of its changes, growth, and challenges, the club remains much the same as in the past. It offers a cross section of ages and attitudes and serves a variety of community causes. Above all, it offers fellowship and a place where women can share their ideas and concerns while having fun, working on philanthropic projects that benefit the community.
